Movie Review - Star Wars : The Clone Wars

To start off, I am a huge Star Wars fan. I love every.....well okay, I love love the orignal trilogy and some stuff of the prequels. I remember being in the theatre watching Episode 3 thinking, well this is it, the last Star Wars movie ever. I was wrong.
What we got a few years later is an all cgi (if you know Lucas you saw the cgi thing coming) movie that takes place during Episode 2. This movie was aimed a tad towards kids and is kind of a long pilot for the tv series of the same name.
First off you notice that the beginning titles are different and dont use the Star Wars theme or scrolling text that you are used to seeing. Then it launches right into a story where a narrator tells you whats going on and then its right into it. I did not like this and unless you really know Star Wars then you are going to be a bit lost and confused.
The story is about Jabba the Hutt's baby being kidnapped. The Jedi go to save the baby so that they can reach a bargain with Jabba to open up a trade route for the Senate to use. During this time, Anakin is assigned a padawan named Ahsoka. She acts just like he did when he was younger or at least should be acting like if we are going by Episode 2 logic. Its a bit annoying at times.
The story is easy to guess what happens next and you dont really care about anyone or anything that happens. It doesn't seem like a full story is used, more like a portion of something decent someone thought of.
The animation is good but the style they chose to go with looks almost as if these are carved figures that are being moved. The orignal voices aren't used either with the exception of Sam Jackson as Mace Windu and Christopher Lee as Count Dooku. Although the guy doing the voice of Obi-Wan does an amazing job at doing a Ewan McGregger.
I was not entertained by this movie but liked watching it because it was Star Wars. Its nothing amazing but at least worth a watch to see where Star Wars is going these days.
B-
Pros:
-Good animation and cgi
-More Star Wars
Cons:
-Too kid friendly and jokey
-Lackluster story
-Quick, out of nowhere ending thats handled poorly
-More of a cartoon pilot

What shall Mario wear today?

You have GOT to be kidding me!!!

Ok.. so I watched 2 movies yesterday.. and had good and bad experiences. The first one watched was National Treasure 2. I don't really feeling like researching and finding pix at the moment to look for the correct title.. but it was the second in of the 2 films. Nicholas Cage was definitely as good in this movie as he was in the first and I have to say that the National Treasure movies are 2 of my favorite movies. I would watch this movie again to catch things I may have missed watching it the first time. It still amazes me how people come up with the things they do! I mean all the gadgets and gizmos and triumphs one has to over come to find a city of gold are amazing. This movie is definitely a movie that I would watch again. I recommend it :)

Grade: A

now.. I'm going to do this one with a background history. I've been a follower of this trilogy for since the first movie came along. I fought with those who said it wasn't a good movie because I still felt it was a good movie, even if it didn't follow the games correctly. I thought as a stand alone movie it was good. The second movie came out and I was a little worried, but still thought it was still pretty decent. I wasn't entirely pleased with it. I'm sure you have a feeling which trilogy I'm talking about. Yes that's right the Resident Evil trilogy. Watching Extinction was one of the worst ideas after watching such a good movie in National Treasure. The entire movie I sat there wondering what the heck was going on. There are several years between the second and third movies where the world has fallen to the undead. The opening scene really confused me at first with Alice waking up in the shower like she did in the first movie and then sequenced between a couple different things.. I thought it was a dream sequence at first but to later find out they had cloned her.. a lot. From the first 5 minutes of the movie I knew it was something that I was most likely not going to enjoy. Then the horror movie feel like I was watching the chainsaw massacre made me hate it that much more. I couldn't wait for the movie to end. All of the dessert stupidity and just all of it. The movie was shitty. I would not watch this movie again and I feel like I wasted a netflix rent due to it.. and i would even go as far as saying it ruined what I once liked as series of movies. I'll never forget when I saw the first movie, I watched it a couple times because I was interested in it.. and even though it wasn't like the game it was good enough for me as a movie being a movie. The third one just didn't have anything going for it from the beginning.

Grade: F.. And I want to say I'm sorry.. but I'm not.. i can't feel sorry that the movie sucked.. i didn't make it!!

Inside Joke

Inside joke because I drew something similar involving Spider-Man while bored at work a couple months ago...

Get Smart Review

For years now i've been watching Steve Carell go about his "funny" antics on a plethora of movies and shows. Much like Will Ferrel I don't find him all that hilarious or entertaining. However, there are certain movies that he stars in that it's just great acting. Get Smart is one of those movies. I'll admit that I wanted to see this movie since it came out just because of Dwayne Johnson, but the entire cast was great.

Get Smart is about Max Smart, who is a details guy for a secret government organization that just wants to become an agent instead of being behind a desk at all times. After a lot of things happen and go wrong, Max is finally put in the field with another agent, 99. Played by Anne Hathaway, 99 has been doing this for years and knows what she is doing and does not want to have Max attached to her side on a the mission they are about to undergo. It's amazing to me how Hathaway has really grown up over the years and is quite the actress.

There were moments in the movie where I actually laughed out loud. It's definitely a comedy and I enjoyed the Alias take on the movie. There were points of the movie that I actually thought I was watching an episode of Alias, but more like it was a comedic spoof. I would certainly recommend the movie to anyone.

A-
I'm not going to lie.. i loved this movie, which surprises me. It definitely caught me off guard.

Video Game Review

BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM
This is the definitive Batman game and it is about time. Batman has had a long road of bad video games and he deserves this game. The story is that Batman has just aprehended the Joker and is taking him to Arkham to have him locked up....again. Batman knows that this is too easy and of course Joker breaks free once inside and reveals that it was all a great master plan. He releases all the inmates and broadcasts over the PA system guiding Batman from building to building. During this treck you encounter Bane, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, and Mr.Zasz. The game does a great job of introducing each and the Scarecrow scenes are not only creepy but very well done.
The graphics are very good and provide a detail that has never been seen before on Batman as well as his surroundings. There is literally details everywhere from newspaper clippings to each cell being unique to its inmate. Lighting is well done and Batman's cape flows very realistically.
The game I thought was a little on the short side but searching around for the Riddler's riddles around the island bumps the length up a tad. These riddles come in the form of hidden question marks, scanning the environment for cameo items and other villain weaponry or costumes. To find these, you have a detective mode that you can switch on and off. The only downside to this is some people will find themselves abusing this and never turning it off, this takes away from the game and you miss how detailed the environment is.
Detective mode--
The game also has a character bio gallery, some containing audio tapes that are interviews that the arkham staff had with that particular inmate. Lastly, there is a challenge mode that allows you to fight groups of thugs or sneak around and pick them off one by one secretly.
All in all this is one of the best games released in 2009. A definate buy and I am eagerly awaiting the sequel.
A+
pros:
-Great Graphics
-Great Story
-Very entertaining with no slow or lagging points
-Smooth control with no steep learning curve
cons:
-Detective mode abuse
-A little on the short side
-Final battle
-Just a couple key villains

Just a story..

Peter looked at Mary Jane, his friend, his girl, his wife, and couldn't help but see Gwen. His lost love so many years ago. He saw her eyes swelled with tears as she looked at him. His own eyes getting heavy closing them for a second. In that second he saw the Green Goblin with Gwen and in the next second he heard Gwen's screams as she plummeted down into the river. His eyes opened and he saw the tears no streaming down Mary Jane's face.

He reached up his hand to her face to wipe away her falling tears. "I love you MJ. I just have to do this alone..." he stalled in his words like he stalled before trying to save Gwen. If only he had been a little bit faster. If he wouldn't have hesitated. He shook his head from the thoughts. Gwen was dead and he couldn't keep thinking about her now. The past is gone. Over. He had MJ now. They've been together five years now.. Feels like forever. "I can't risk losing you, too." he finally finished. He noticed her slight hesitation as he pressed her face into his hand. Her eyes still glistening with tears, but they weren't falling down her cheeks anymore.

"I know, Tiger" she said to him.

She called everyone Tiger, but when she called him it he felt so special. Like somehow it was a different word all together. It's one of the reasons he fell in love with her. Her words carried so much emotion and power in them. He never questioned her ability as an actress because he knew she was the greatest.

He put his hand was back at his side and looked into her eyes. They were already losing their teary gleam. He always cared for her, but it wasn't until recently that he truly realized it. With all of the villain activity he had been away for too long. They hadn't seen each other for a couple of weeks and that's what they were fighting about now.
